Mr. Gregorium's Number Emporium
#91

Today I read the Libraries For The People website (+1). Lots of resources there! I learned what a Friends of the Library branch is and that they're the people who run the bookstore I got most of my physical collection from. I also wrote some more posts on Fedi so I'm trying to stay on top of that. I was wondering it might be a good place for me to post about video game history maybe.

I wrote 250 words for an upcoming article. This one's gonna be a doozy. I also made an avatar accessory on Second Life, and I'm thinking about tracking those, because I've been making a lot of little avatar parts for SL recently and it might be fun to start counting them.

But what about Greg? Greg is very close to leaving the Steam Age, but microcrafting continues to trouble him. I did set up that oak lod farm and have collected at least 4 thousand oak lods by now. When I cut down the trees, I need more iron for my axe, which means it's probably time to start hunting for more ore, which I don't want to do. Again: Ore has been the worst bottleneck. Tomorrow I might let Teck come out to play.

Things have been a little confusing for Greg.

Greg is winding down into its final week soon, and it's been quite the journey. I will acknowledge to losing a lot of steam (Ha! Ha!) in the second half due to general malaise and political stress, but it's not over yet. We still have time to count those numbers!

Greg has finally found his way back to his base.

GT: New Horizons is not the modpack for me. I could imagine myself enjoying playing it with some friends who are more passionate about it. But as it is, I have a week to get through it and I've been feeling my liquefied brain sliding out of my ears.

Building my base has been fun, but I could say the same out of vanilla Minecraft, and by then I would have finished my house. I feel like I'm saying a lot of negative things but I can't think of many positives to say. Oh, I like the food system.

As you can probably guess, I switched modpacks for a couple days. Monifactory looked really promising, but I ran into the same problems -- and all kinds of new ones. Did you know that modpack encourages you to just teleport around your base? Man, that is not how I like to play this game. I did like the pennies and quarters and nickels, but I wasn't allowing myself to use any of them for shopping (number goup, after all), which ran me into a wall really fast.

What I did get out of this sidequest was realizing I hate GTNH's combat more than anything else in the game, so I turned it to Peaceful. That works. Game's almost playable now.

Weeks into my journey I finally heard back from a local library staff member, who thanked me for writing in but did not have any advice for how I could help them. This whole month has felt, if you'll excuse the cliche, like rolling a boulder uphill and watching it tumble back down.

I've been exhausted, so I drink caffeine to stay awake. The caffeine agitates my already-sensitive anxieties, so I spend the entire day in a state of vigilance. This exhausts me enough at night to sleep, at which point I am glad to be 1 day closer to being free from Greg. None of this brings me any closer to inner peace.

Greg collapsed from exhaustion.

I'm taking the rest of the day off. Tomorrow I'll see if I have another 6 days in me or if I'm ready to give the final Numbers.

Thank you, Greg, for your service. Whether this is the end or not, it has been a wonderful journey.

I'm not ready to give the final report yet (I promise that I will) but I did want to give an update to why I suddenly deteriorated and fell apart so quickly. This is a funny one and you can laugh:

I recently -- as in, at the start of this month -- started on new antipsychotics.

It turned out they were making me more psychotic.

Could this be my poisonjr incident?
