Been having a weird time, but I played Greg basically all day yesterday, so rest assured the Gregs will continue.
But I must come clean: I cheated in an ore scanner. I was simply not going to have any more fun if I had to keep strip mining to find calcite. The game has become more playable! My patience continues to wane with only one person and no one to trade resources with, but at least I can distract myself with crafting now. Greg is learning how to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
I'm going through a backlog of rewards I hadn't claimed.
One of them was a horse spawn egg.
How did I fail gacha on a fucking horse?
HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN
Progress on Greg's Area
Will try to do a full update later today. Yesterday I learned that my EBT got cut again after a brief moment where they gave it back and the emotional rollercoaster has just been too much. Unimaginably grateful to Ace for the donation.

A new stat I'm gonna be tracking is 60+ Small Tasks to Defend the Right to Read. I'm taking the lead, but if you do any of the tasks on the list you can let me know and I'll count yours too =) I admittedly haven't read it top-to-bottom so sorry if there's some impossible stuff. I believe we can make that number go up though!
Greg made his first Nether portal!
Let's see how long it takes him to die

I already know who represents me in my state legislature as I recently called them to protest the Don't Say Trans bill (+1). I wrote a volunteer application to be part of my state's anti-book-ban program (+1). Then I wrote a letter to my local library telling them how much I love their pride events (+1). (It's true! I don't really have many contacts in real life.) Then I asked them how I could sign up for public comment (+1). That won't be happening this month but I at least got a head start. So that's 4 tasks done.
In the process I found out that my local library was holding an LGBT event today! I went there and they helped me with some personal paperwork. This was an unrelated sidequest but I'm happy I did it.
Greg has been making slow work through the Steam tier. He just got into the Nether but is definitely not prepared.
Greg's Area #MyArea has been coming along decently enough. He just learned about the Chisel so now he's working on replacing all the cobblestone with slightly cooler cobblestone. I'd like glass walls for the factory, but that's going to take a long time.
we also borrowed a book from a library book display! (task #21) and got to talk with the library staff member who put some of their recommendations on the display, and they personally recommended another book for us to pick up. that was awesome.

Thank you! That's 5 tasks! Busy day for me today!
I have also written 3,226 words for the blog. I have to take a break. I already made my carpal tunnel mad today by filling out paperwork. My wrist is going to hate me.
Hey. What? What do you mean by that?
Holy shit, Greg Nether is bullshit. I got attacked by some sort of Ghast thing I didn't even get the name of, and the Rare repulsing Hellhound of Hunger, and the Rare Dark Lord Brutish Pigman Zombie the Thorned, and the Rare unseen Magma Cube the Cancerous
what do you mean

I read a bit of Turning the Page yesterday (library task +1) and wanted to share some particularly on-the-nose details:
Quote:> The community standards that define “age-appropriate” have been hijacked by a small, hyper-conservative subset of the community that believes information about certain topics is never appropriate for minors to access in a school library. They promise it’s not “banning” because these “inappropriate” books never should have been available in schools.
Quote:> Sometimes you’ll find the opposition can have a flair for the dramatic. Take Alan from East Texas (name and location changed for privacy). [...] He collects the names of school librarians and writes them in ALL CAPS on his forms and complains that students will be “damaged souls” if they read these books. He appeared on national television arguing that I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is pornography. He’s even been quoted saying, “I will run over you like a dead body in the street to stop one child from reading this book.” Now, that’s some serious drama that sounds almost laughable from a distance, but is incredibly intimidating to those caught in his crosshairs.
Surprisingly enough, this book actually contains info on building a brand and labeling for your cause. It also contains conversation starters and a lot more of the "how"s than your average activism book.
I did try asking if I could drop off some bookmarks but the person on the phone got nervous and I think they thought I was trying to leave religious material so I apologized and dropped it (I'm still learning how to make phone calls). Then I wanted to call my local book store but they're closed??? I'm giving myself a +1 for effort.
Greg's Area has been developing. I don't know what I'm going to use his back yard for but I'm working on coke oven storage and relocating the farmland from the river to the patch I've flattened out.
I made 4 adoptables, 1 of which sold, and then I sold a custom, so that together was $35 and a thank you to Cheet and Mortis. We're now at $306, which is $300 more than I expected to make from my Greg Marathon. On that note, we're halfway through Mr. Gregorium's Number Emporium.
I haven't yet decided what 2 new stats I will track. Unfortunately at 4 AM my brain was telling me to start counting episodes watched of my least favorite show, SheZow. I don't think I'll be doing that.
SheZow disaster narrowly averted: I'm now playing Emoji Gacha and Wiki Gacha. I have 42 unique emojis and 80 unique cards. My current rarest card is Marcus Trescothick and the first card I pulled was Wang Mingfang.
For the love of God, Montresor
I made new adopts today so now I have made 19. That odd number is gonna drive me crazy until I fix it.
I filled this roughly 70x30x2 space with approximately 4000 dirt blocks (I really should have counted, I know) and I'm going to fill it up with oak trees and see how many oak lods I can get.
In honesty I have hit another wall of how much fun I can have with this modpack. I have found myself trying to think of excuses to pivot to another modpack, such as playing Nomifactory (another Greg-based pack) or something new entirely. But that's not why you're here. You're here to watch me play Greg.
It's not that I even hate this pack! But it would be so, so much easier on a server with friends. I cannot stand going between hunting for ores, to chopping down trees, to piling it all into my worktable and finding out I need 2 more iron ingots in order to make an iron screw in order to make AAAAAGGHHHHHHH
It doesn't matter. I',m over halfway trough. greg. Greg

If you would set it up that I could play with you I would play with you and find ores for you. I'd love to, honestly. You could even gear me up.
It might be time for Greg to get a Friend.

Shit, I need to make a character for this then. Tek the Mouse. Figure that one out for me Thank you
For my library tasks I watched a Hank Green video on pseudoscience (+1). Then I was going to follow Authors Against Book Bans as suggested (+1 for trying, I followed their RSS) but they are only on Instagram. That got me thinking so I made an account on Fedi for my library special interest and general activism (+1 because, ideally, my goal here is to make a freedom-to-read advocacy group). That's 10 library tasks.
You might be wondering why the library stuff this month since it doesn't really have much to do with Greg. That's because the library in my city holds all the fun events that let me talk to people outside, especially because they have a good LGBT presence, so I think a lot about the library, and this Pride month has been hard on me and the budget cuts have been clear so I just care a lot, okay.
I would work at the library if I could, but I can't, so I'm online playing Greg. Thanks for sticking with me and have a wonderful day. Tomorrow Greg might get a Friend.
