Brainrot Island: Living the Dream

It's been a hot minute, hasn't it?

This is the sequel to my Brainrot Island YouTube series, and it's also a followup to Purgatory Island.

If you're new here, Tomodachi Life is a tiny person simulator game in the same vein as The Sims but with a much weirder tone. Characters also speak directly to you as if you were their god, and you can pick them up and move them around.

The intended purpose of Tomodachi Life, at least as it presents itself in marketing, is for you to make your friends and coworkers so that the game can act out some low-stakes (and admittedly pretty funny) RPF in front of your eyes. Every single person I have ever met uses it for fictional characters.

Brainrot Island is an attempt to concentrate Tomodachi Life down to its essence. How diseased with special interests can we make this save file?

I'm not as invested in Dandy's World as I was when I did the first Brainrot. In all honesty I haven't played the game since the chat verification update and I wish the game could move off the Roblox platform. But he's iconic to me, and I couldn't stop thinking about seeing him on the big ol' screen.

I've grown attached to the 3DS-era Dandy and he feels like his own character to me at this point. I had the option here to give him facepaint, and I didn't.

These personalities seem right for the both of them.

This time around Astro gets to be a guy! In Brainrot 3DS I was just arbitrarily setting genders based on what I thought would make for potentially funny matchups, but Nintendo has finally listened to our prayers and given us homosexuality.

I have to assume that the first friendship is hard-coded to be a success, but can you imagine if we had gotten a fight on day 1?

Sitting down to write this, it hits me that I really should have started the island with some of the Purgatory Island favorites like King St. Bee. Dandy's gone and upstaged everybody!

Dandy was there at the end and he must be there at the beginning.

Dandy and Astro are fast friends, which means I get to add more islanders. Thankfully for you, I'm gonna pick some of the Eggware Special.

Reminder that Eggle used to look like this:

I'm not completely happy with my facepaint job so I'll probably touch it up later. At least they don't look like a flesh egg this time.

Dandy's just an instant friendship-maker!

Where would we be without King St. Bee?

I love the new face features in this game. Seriously. Just look at 3DS KSB and see what I mean.

It's just a shame I can't draw my own facepaint talk animation, but anything beats whatever the hell that is.

I tossed her at Astro just so that Dandy isn't getting all the attention.

Dandy, peeved about not being the center of the universe, gets so mad he gives himself the hiccups. Astro to the rescue!

You've both existed for less than 24 hours. Knock it off.

Before I abducted Astro to fix Dandy's problems, he was having a chat with King St. Bee, who got up from her spot and immediately fell over. I sent Dandy to help her. Mercifully, KSB did not immediately fall in love with him.

I really like the rooms in this game.

This is EFG, and she's the first original Mii I ever made for this series.

I really like this adaptation of her. She's a very "classic"-looking Mii to me. Check out what she used to look like:

We had decided pretty early that her name stands for "Evil Fungus Girl", though that developed some mutations like "Epic Fucking Girl". We don't know exactly what she is, but ...

Oh good lord ...

When Crunchmaster and EFG dated on Purgatory Island, we had a plotline where she infected him with her spores and he grew a mushroom out of his head for a while.

After this conversation, she pretty much immediately got distracted by watching ants form a heart. Did she make them do this? I'm scared. I'm not exaggerating any of this, you can check the timestamps on the images if you want.

This was immediately after the ants scene. WHAT IS GOING ON???

Here comes Crunchmaster!

Crunchmaster, if you really are new here, is a Windows 98 computer that gained sentience in the form of an anthropomorphic macaw and became preoccupied with creating a Margaritaville of the mind. He is a recovering alcoholic with push-and-pull attachment issues and would probably live on a cruise ship if he wasn't stuck playing JumpStart games.

This is what he looked like when he was the unholy flesh parrot. I guess he's gotten a little more sociable since getting that mushroom out of his skull!

Anyway, you won't believe where the game put him.
